This PRNG follows the interface of the deferred class GEN_RAND. According to Arno, the » Mersenne Twister MT19937 "is really strong - as long as you don't use it directly for cryptography. It should be suitable for almost everything else. And, surprisingly, it is also very fast, even without using c-code!
The source also includes some speed comparisons, and a routine to process STRINGs containing hexadecimal values.
