Eiffel_SDL is an Eiffel language binding to the SDL. The binding brings many of the benefits of the language - such as Design by Contract - to the library, increasing the robustness of applications developed around it.
One of the best libraries available today for writing games and multimedia applications is the » SDL, or Simple Directmedia Layer. Some of the virtues of this library include its power, simplicity, and portability. The SDL covers not only 2D/3D graphics, but also sound, networking, CDROM control, true type fonts, and input from a variety of devices. Used extensively by the (now defunct) company Loki to successfully port Windows games to the Linux platform, the SDL has established credibility as a reliable and robust foundation for games and multimedia applications.
But Eiffel_SDL is more than just a straight presentation of the SDL interface via Eiffel; wherever possible Eiffel mechanisms have been used to further simplify and extend the original interface such that the programmer's job is easier than ever.
